Avalon Waterways is unveiling the river cruise industry's first "suite ship," the Avalon Panorama. The 166 passenger ship will offer cabins that are 15 to 30% larger than the industry norm.
The ship will offer 64 newly designed Panorama suites offering a full 200 square feet of living space. The cabins will include wall to wall panoramic windows. When open, the 10-foot wide by 7 foot tall window transforms the entire suite into the category's first open-air balcony.
Other cabin amenities include flat screen TV's, large closet, a fully stocked min-bar and in room safe. As with other Avalon ships, there will be a club, main lounge, dining room, pool deck, open-air bistro, fitness room and hair salon on board.
The Panorama will be christened in May 2011, and will then sail a 14 night itineraries between Amsterdam and Budapest. Late November and December, the ship will offer Christmas market itineraries.
